Girl Scout Cookies = The Suburbanites Crack

As soon as my daughter and I started telling people we were selling Girl Scout cookies, the orders came pouring in.  Since they are only sold once a year and have a reputation that few other cookies can claim, people jump on the chance to get their yearly fix.  Of all the Girl Scout cookies, no cookie is as popular as Thin Mints.

Thin Mints, for those of you who aren't (yet) familiar with them, are a small, round, minty, chocolately crispy crunchy little bite of pure pleasure.  They come 48 to a box, wrapped in two shiny foil sleeves of 24.  Be careful, though, once you have a package open, you may find that the serving size of 4 just doesn't cut it. And once you've had twice that many, you think, what's a few more?  A sleeve of Thin Mints left open on the counter as you fiddle around the house, cleaning, checking your email, whatever, is a dangerous temptation.  The cookies are so poppable-y delicious that before you know it, there are only three cookies left.

You may just finish off the sleeve.  Because really, what looks worse - a sleeve of cookies with only two or three left, or one that just isn't there and has mysteriously disappeared??  (The kids must have eaten them, I swear!!)

Once the guilt settles in from finishing off an entire box of Thin Mints in two days by yourself (that second sleeve of cookies didn't stand a chance), you'll freeze the other 3 boxes you bought, to "save them for later," you tell yourself.

It's not long, though, until you get the itch.  You need a carb-loaded chocolate-minty fix, fast.  You pull out your frozen Thin Mints.  You look around, though you know no one is home but the cats.  You know they're frozen, but you can't wait another minute.  You open the cold, crinkly package and pop an icy cookie into your mouth.  Just one.  To your horror, you discover that the cookies-- are even better frozen!!

This means...you can buy more.  Those sneaky Girl Scouts are selling cookies for the next 2 1/2 months.  Hopefully you can stockpile enough to hold you over.   And maybe....just maybe...you'll break down and buy some of the other kinds.  Believe me, they are all so good that I couldn't even finish writing this without getting up to eat a couple.

So stock up now...Girl Scout cookie season ends in January.  There's no shame in hoarding them....just remember to find yourself a good hiding spot.
